Speaker Selection
« on: August 15, 2017, 10:59:19 PM »

We have a small sanctuary of about 60ft front to back, 40ft wide, ceiling is 8ft either side about 11ft at center. That said we are looking at a pair of Bose 402 IV and an MB4 bass module with the SP24 processor and also a pair of the Turbosound IP1000 or IP2000. Does anyone have experience with either of or both of these to aid us in making the right decision. Thanks

This is so common.  Why not change the name of the "Forum rules" thread to... "The REAL FULL NAME and other important rules required to post"?

Please no Bose 402 IV Panaray, I'm replacing their father the 502's in a church and they aren't great.

First, look for a competent system integrator in your area that can do the install properly, safely, with insurance.

Next, make sure they have your best interests in mind and don't try to make you spend money you don't need on stuff you don't want.

Third, I'd look into the Martin Blackline series or CDD (but this is a hunch, on what you need [based upon very little info]; really, you define your needs first, then coverage area, then spl/freq requirements, only THEN do you start looking at the manufacture)

Lastly,To prove how the Bose aren't good:

-The simplest thing to do is look at the beamwidth of the speaker in the datasheet. Notice how the vertical pattern isn't consistent. Basically this means people won't hear the same music/voice everywhere.
-Next the frequency response is smoothed crazily, processed with EQ, made to look pretty.
-The SPL is doubtful at best and depending on what you're doing won't be enough.

If you were going to start over and purchase 4 powered loudspeakers what would your budget be?
