Roland M400 digital console help please

I just bought a Roland m400 console with the intentions to flip it. I do not have a digital snake with the unit and an receiving questions regarding whether or not they are required. It seems that up to only 8 analog channels could be utilized before requiring further connectivity (ie. Different snakes). Is that correct?

Ray Aberle:
Yeah. Without the S-1608 stage box / snake, you don't have any way to get signal into the board beyond the 8x8 XLR built in.
