Agreed.

I have never seen any musician (ESPECIALLY a conductor) use 5-6-7-8.

Took some swing dance lessons awhile back and the 8 count thing drove me crazy.  I can tell if 4, 6 or 8 bars have gone by without counting.  Can usually make it though So What without counting bars.  But the use of 8 counts in dance totally threw me off.  Even worse is the west coast swing practice of 6 counts over 4/4 music.   :o

I've seen video of Lawrence Welk doing it.


But then I guess the statement still stands, never heard a musician or conductor do it.
