Yes, especially curious about how they get the inside dimensions to be about 2" bigger than the outside dimensions.

Hey guys.  My gig kit was stolen recently (ugh) so I'm looking for case recommendations.  I've been a pelican guy forever and the one I always gravitate too is the standard 1510 w/dividers.  Wondering if there's something better out there I should be looking into?  The Air series is intriguing.  Things I need are:

-waterproof
-rugged (lives in planes, bus bays, and semi trailers)
-customizable dividers
-some sort of lid mesh/pocket organization system would be nice but not a deal breaker

Whats out there that's great these days?  Or should I just get another 1510?

Thanks!

JF

After much searching about, i bought this...

https://www.portabrace.com/hard-cases/2550-hard-case-with-divider-kit.html

It's actually made by a company called HPRC for Portabrace.  Here's the HPRC version sans insert.

https://www.hprcusa.com/en/resin-case_hprc2550w.html

I did some hunting around and i got the above Portabrace case with all the insert stuff for about 160 bucks US.  took some hunting though....

here's a similar offering from B&H....

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=966268&gclid=CK-5k5XgwNMCFU9WDQod3AUNPQ&is=REG&ap=y&m=Y&c3api=1876%2C%7Bcreative%7D%2C%7Bkeyword%7D&A=details&Q=

[sorry for all the long hyperlinks]

Anyway, i have LOVED my case.  It's got about 200,000 air miles on it and it's still going strong.  It's sturdy, rugged, and doesn't look like every other road dog's case.  Way better latches than the pelican.  And it's bigger on the inside than the 1520 while being simultaneously smaller on the outside due to the handle design.  Handle is also a bit longer which suits my 6'4" frame.

Highly Recommend!

Thanks for the heads up on this.  I just ordered one for $169 with the divider kit and got free shipping also.  Lighter than the Pelican, too!  I have no doubt this'll work out very well, and it should be easily identifiable in the sea of pelicans I'm constantly surrounded by.

Good choice.  Only issue i've had is the pins for the top and handle hinges sometimes like to migrate a bit, but a quick tap with a hammer puts them right back in place.

Glad i could help.
