Pelican or? Help needed.
« on: April 24, 2017, 11:09:56 AM »

Hey guys.  My gig kit was stolen recently (ugh) so I'm looking for case recommendations.  I've been a pelican guy forever and the one I always gravitate too is the standard 1510 w/dividers.  Wondering if there's something better out there I should be looking into?  The Air series is intriguing.  Things I need are:

-waterproof
-rugged (lives in planes, bus bays, and semi trailers)
-customizable dividers
-some sort of lid mesh/pocket organization system would be nice but not a deal breaker

Whats out there that's great these days?  Or should I just get another 1510?

Thanks!

The SKB, Gator and even the Mono-Price are all pretty rugged, but none of them beat Pelican when it comes to service.  I've never had to pay for any replacement parts, and they answer their e-mails.

Thanks guys.  I've been totally happy with Pelican so I'll probably stick with them.  I own so many now the only thing I'll do differently is get a color so my toolbox sticks out in the pack or on the deck.  Has anyone had a chance to compare the difference in durability between the Air and standard series?  The weight savings would be great since I fly a lot.

I've not been very impressed with the SKB or Gator offerings I've used.  They're ok but for basically the same price I prefer the Pelican stuff.  Broken latches and handles seem to occcur more frequently with the few that we have in our rig.

I am kind of curious about this little guy though....might order one of each!

Yes, especially curious about how they get the inside dimensions to be about 2" bigger than the outside dimensions.

Magic?  I didn't notice that typo as I'd seen the case in a photo next to a 1510 and is was roughly equal.  Pelican it is, I know what my $ is getting me there.

You can also get a "color kit" (or whatever they call it) in which the latches and handles can be various colors.

It helps for easy identification.
