Hello,

I recently acquired some led lighting that instead of iec or powercon, have the cords and caps running into the device.  They came with 2 prong euro caps.  Of course I'd like to change these over to edison.  My first thought is to just change the caps over to 2 prong edison, but I'm worried about grounding.  Looking in the device, there are screw down terminals on the power supply for line, neutral, and ground (marked LNG).  I feel I should switch out the stock two wire cable for 3 wire and terminate at the power supply.  If I do so, I feel I should I also run a wire to the chassis somewhere, or is the ground terminal enough?  No worries about the power supply, it is rated from 90v on up.

I know it has been some time but have these got schuko plugs on or europlug? If its got schuko it must be grounded if its europlug check for a double insulated sign otherwise bin them...

They had europlugs.  As an update, I checked for continuity from the case to the ground screw lug on the board, and there was.

Those fixtures probably aren't UL listed; with a molded Euro plug it's unlikely.

You probably could change that cord and cap with no problems. For reference with existing wiring, typically brown is hot (live, line), blue is neutral. Green or green/yellow is ground (earth).

Be aware of the liability you incur when you modify electrical appliances.
