Outdoor gobo projector?
« on: April 11, 2017, 10:35:33 PM »

Hey guys,

Hoping you can help me narrow down my search. Need something to get a big logo on a wall outside at night. Cream colored wall with minimal city lighting.

Any suggestions on used units / new units? LED vs older bulbs?

The easy/cheap solution is a S4 leko with a 750w bulb and appropriate lens tube for your throw distance/desired image size.  How bright that will be in your scenario is hard to say - size of gobo, relative amount of ambient light etc., but brighter solutions are a lot more expensive and difficult.

One time event or permanent install? How big is acceptable and how far away?

In my experience say away from the 10deg S4 tube (and probably also 5deg) if you can as they are much fuzzier/softer focus than the 14's.

Can the logo be reduced to black and white (no grey scale)?

If you need full color consider looking at Apollos print scenic gobos on glass in an LED fixture.

All you need to deal with that issue is a donut....

Do you need an IP rated fixture that will live outside, or is this a one off.
Chauvet does make a weather rated ers.
