Ideas for handling multiple lavalier microphones
« on: March 22, 2017, 05:00:48 PM »

I run all my lavs through a sub group with a graph.  I usually run Shure ULXD lavs, OR Shure QLXD lavs, but never in the same show without running an LS9 with a Dougan card.  I have a show coming up with 8 of each, with the possibility of all 16 open at once and NO Dougan.

Would I be helping or hurting my situation running each model of lav in seperate sub groups with EQ set for those models?

I've had great results running the lavs in the following configuration.
All lavs are running Shure 184 elements
All ULXDs are set to +3 offset, -12 input pad, line level
All QLXDs are set to 0 offset (no input pad available), line level

Any thoughts?

Why do you think you need different groups? They all have the same mic element. Without the Dugan you'll be doing a lot of fader moving and paying a lot more attention. Why the +3dB offset? Shure recommends the offset only to match mics.
