Or not, because those inputs have a different input gain.
Compensation for that is assumed. Seems faster than changing the routing of the ipod channel.

I do what Scott Holtzman  mentioned, I put the vocal in compression and have a higher makeup gain to have the vocals sit on top.

I have been trying more and more to put dave rats techniques in to practice

Are you using any additional signal processing (e.g., DBX DriveRack, etc)? I noticed that when switching to the X32 Rack, I had to increase the input gains on the DBX by one step. That helped nearly everything in the chain.

And, the AUX Ins on the X32 Rack seem to be more sensitive than the Balanced. At least to my ears... :-)

No external processing.  Using Matrix Outputs for Xover duty.

+10 It sounds so much better than the cheap driveracks.  With a gaggle of filter types in the latest software it's quicker to setup too.

Agreed, the Matrix outputs on the X32 series are the feature that I love the most.  Not to mention saving a rack space....and everything is in one app.  Glorious.


Update from last night - slight bump in the master fader and I had all the headroom I needed. 
With my SRX722's, I just never needed to push the board to that output...so just a learning curve for me.
I did apply the ipod channel to the DCA group and it sounded exactly the same volume (when the DCA was at zero)...so at least I know there is no negative impact to using the DCA groups.

Appreciate all the insight from this thread.

Why would there be?  They just shift the bits left or right.  Digital amplification is all math.

Didn't expect there to be, but it was suggested earlier in the thread to check that.  You never know where you may find a software bug.
