According to Hollywood, sound moves at the speed of light.  There is no other possible explanation as to why we hear distant explosions at the moment they occur in their productions.

If sound moved at the speed of light, then the whole speaker industry would be different.

There would be no more combfiltering between different elements.

You could simply pile as many devices inside a box as possible and they would all add together.

There would be no more reverb or reflections.

And if the sound wavelengths were as small as light-then little bitty horns would be able to control where the sound goes.

But sound moves S L O W and has SIZE.

Those two things are what make it harder that it appeared to be when most of us started in this industry.

Maybe that is what keeps some of us in business.
