Resistors on Mic Inputs

Hey Everyone,

I've been investigating some wall patch panels from an old FSR system install that's been replaced with a Soundweb/Crestron setup.

Old system signal flow was as follows:

Wall patches->Patchbay->Rack mixer->Patchbay->FSR->Patchbay->Amp

All of the Mic input jacks on the wall patch panels have a 1.6k-Ohm resistor between pins 2 and 3.

I am wondering what the rationale behind this might be?

That is done to reduce noise, when no mics are plugged in.

In dedicated fixed instal mixer/preamp designs, these terminations are often built in. Using non-install gear in an install application could benefit from such noise mitigation.
