Audio cartwall playback software for broadcast applications
« on: January 24, 2017, 05:05:23 PM »

Hey guys, my first post here. Not sure if I'm at the right place.
(wouldn't mind if you pointed me to an external broadcast audio forum if I"m making a fool of myself here)

I have a question about broadcast audio software, specifically cartwall software.

I spent the entire sunday with no success looking for playback software that would let me:

- Use external midi control to play samples (for some reason the most rare feature)
- Run on Windows (second most rare feature)
- Colorcode slots
- Set start/end-point of each sample
- Set fade-in/out for each sample
- Enable looping of a slot

The closest thing i got was SOUND BYTE ]http://www.blackcatsystems.com/software/soundbyte_rack_cart_machine_radio_automation_software.html]
It still lacks some basic features.

Sorry for my english as it's not my primary language.

Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks!

The search term you want to use is cart machine software - or buy a Mac and use Q Lab / Q Cart.

The only Windows IR/cart program I know of that's worth anything is Sports Sounds Pro.

You may be able to map a MIDI controller to trigger hotkeys, but I'm not sure about that.

SpotOn is widely used in television production. It is not easy to find out about, but it is used on major TV productions, and I have at least one friend who uses it in live corporate events. He has a large touchscreen monitor that mounts on an arm to fire cues. It seems to work well, but AFAIK it is not cheap. You can see a pdf of the manual HERE, and find more info by searching "SpotOn audio playback" in your favorite search engine.
