Talk about misleading specs---
« on: October 22, 2016, 05:28:06 PM »

While cruising the internet, an ad popped up for a "device", and one of the “key features” was that it never needed recharging.

This made me curious-so I clicked on the ad to read more.

Below is why it doesn’t need “recharging”.

“Non-charging, replaceable batteries last up to 6 months”

I guess that is one way to look at it-but NOT the way most people would-after they have bought it.

They aren't lying-but certainly not telling the truth-at least in the way the customer would "see" it.

I guess the ad writers also work for some audio companies.

JR
But it also requires lipstick prompting the query:  "Which came first, the lipstick or the pig?"

Speaking of pigs, a bit of a conversation between two professors crossing a nearby campus: "But my dear friend, you cannot cast false pearls before real swine"

I never understood what the fuss with cordless screwdrivers was all about. After all, screwdrivers have been cordless for hundreds of years.

How about the "Magic Stick TV Antenna" they have recently developed?  As if free, over the air Tv was a new phenomena.  Perhaps I am giving away my age?

Had the same thought as Jonathan-still trying to find the implied corded screwdriver.

They did exist, primarily in shop / assembly line applications.  Often conveniently reversible and with a wide range of torque settings, often continuously adjustable rather than in steps.  I recall them in both electrically and pneumatically operated versions.  I still recall how impressed I was the first time I used a pneumatic sabre saw.  I never had to blow the dust from my layout lines as the saw routed its exhaust air straight down both sides of its blade always keeping the immediate cutting area dust free and with extremely little lateral vibration as the piston's movement was purely in the vertical plane.  From memory, I believe its brand name was "Lestool" or something extremely close to that.

I've had cordless, digital screwdrivers for decades!
