Cheap audio over IP
« on: June 28, 2016, 02:30:43 PM »

Looking for a cheap and easy way to move page signals over someone else's network.

I don't have control over the network, and the budget probably wouldn't support Dante or Cobranet anyway so I'm looking for other options.
Latency is a non-issue, sound quality is of medium importance

Any ideas?

We use valcom gateways at work, we find them to be super reliable. No need to reboot or do anything but let them do their thing...

Ditto on Valcom, we use it for life safety paging systems in nursing homes.  Works great.  They have a whole bunch of SIP aware gateways too so you can do cool routing with Asterisk (open source unified communications software).

Disclaimer:  I am heavily involved in the Open Source FreePBX project, PBX software for Asterisk -

What is audio bandwidth?

Codec type?

Their spec sheets don't say much.

If you give them a call they will be happy to answer your questions.
