Coda AiRay Is the talk True?
« on: April 21, 2016, 01:44:29 PM »

Hey Guys,

I missed to be there at PL&S Frankfurt this year and hear Coda AiRay and other products were on demo. Like Outline GTO C12 in my previous topic I wish to talk about another new system that is not much found on internet but is supposedly amazing. I hear they are very loud but clear and great sounding too. So has anyone got hands on experience with this product?

I hear it can smoke the top brands in the market.. so let's have a look at this LA.. Will appreciate honest and experienced opinions

So no one has heard of Coda or not interested in the discussion?

I have heard several Coda systems and I also heard the AiRay demo at Frankfurt, but given my affiliation, I don't really think I'm in a position to comment (good or bad - please don't read any value into this).

Sorry...

Like Outline GTO C12 in my previous topic

So how are you liking your Outline rig? You should post back your comments on that as well, and help solve this "problem" of not enough internet chatter about brands you like.

Coda is the manufacturing arm of BMS drivers, and they decided that as well as selling their drivers to lots of top shelf manufacturers, they would also use them to make their own range of speakers.

It's all very top quality components, and as far as I've heard from others well designed and put together.

Personally, I've only heard the smaller double 8" brother ViRay when I went a wander to see what the other stages were doing at T in the Park last year (we were doing Slam and T Break) and for the 30 seconds I listened it sounded great. Have also heard great reviews about both that one and the new AiRay that you mention, but haven't heard that one personally.

Thing is, it's an obscure brand. Coda's probably not well known outside Europe. Considering this forum is mainly catered to the Americas, unless someone from the States picks it up, no one would touch it. The concept is interesting though with the small footprint.

I would also ask what "talk". At least here in the southeast US Coda doesn't exist. I don't even remember seeing them at infocomm last year. They would be pretty obscure in these parts.

CODA was @ Infocomm 2014 in Vegas, as well last year in Orlando... they were across the way from the "Brown Box" booth... They also had a small demo room @ both shows with a selection of G series, TiRAY, CUE series, Soundbar - all sounded terrific with similar voicing.  They have a deep range of product from touring-portable-install.

CODA, sister company of BMS, under hood:
BMS
CAMCO/PASCAL
DFM dsp  http://www.dfm-audio.com/en/references-en
EASE Focus 2/3

Have not heard AiRAY yet.  Sound quality metrics are important, but what stands out first are the physical, mechanical, and electrical efficiencies realized @ rated SPL's and coverage.  The rigging, transport, and packaging are brilliant.  If it sounds great, and many say it does, that is icing on the cake.
