Greetings,
Sitting backstage right now in large a ballroom with a rack of 20 ULXD and Tempest900/Helix. Scanned with TTi, coordinated with IAS, and monitored in Workbench, Tempest batteries constantly draining. Antennae 15' in the air, not pointed at Mt. Wilson
All is well.
I'm the coordinator; there's an A2 miccing the presenters.
As my department is solid, I walk over to records and listen to the mics periodically. However, I have no convenient way to preview the mics after they have been placed on the presenter and the presenter has exited makeup (basically, out of our control for some time). The A1 is often busy because this is a play-on heavy show, and I'd like to help out.
For reasons not under my control, the ULXD and the CL5 out front are patched via XLR. Were we using Dante to pass the audio to FOH, I'd just patch my TouchMix 16 to the analog outputs of the ULSD and listen. So, my practical choices are:
Focusrite RedNet AM2, $400, haven't seen one yet. Dante enabled headphone amp, and more .
http://us.focusrite.com/ethernet-audio-interfaces/rednet-amShure MXWANI8 Audio Network Interface. $1000 +/- Has headphone out.
Dante into my laptop w/DVS or Dante VIA and out to my cans. Have done that in the past, but the cans are not loud enough to hear clothing rustle, etc. I suppose I could go laptop to FP22 to cans.
Analog out to 16ch mic splitter, split to FOH, split to my TM16.
Suggestions, please. Thanks.
Mike
