recommend a dmx on/off switch to run 2 small fans?
« on: August 04, 2015, 09:17:43 AM »

I'm trying to add dmx control to a pair of small fans that we run in between services to distribute haze in the room. Any cheap suggestions would be much appreciated.

A couple choices here depending on if you want two single channel units, or one multi-channel unit.

For less money (and less quality), something like this: http://www.amazon.com/American-Channel-Desinged-Conventional-Lighting/dp/B005MN03CU

I have one of these to control a backup non DMX hazer and fan. Never had a problem with it though I haven't used it a lot over the years.

For fans you really want "proper" relay, not "SCR dimmer that goes on or off", like the Amazon unit.

If cost is an issue, then get an electrically competent person to assemble a box with a Northlight relay board in it.  I have a four channel and eight channel boards, and they've given perfect service over many years.

For those of us in 240V-land, the four channel unit has relays and board clearances that are OK at 240V.

You will be very happy with any of the Northlight boards. Great stuff.
