Entirely normal!  Although Shure says "Don't do it as it'll make the mic sound different"

Tough I'd still just go for using an e906 - lower profile still and, in my view, a better sound.

I do have a Sennheiser E906 and E609, but there's something wicked looking about a bent 57.

I recently started working at a place that has a pile of Beta 56 and they are my new "works on almost anything" mic.  I have yet to try them on vocals or podium.

But can you convert them to 90 degrees.  ;D

Might be the ticket for harmonica players.  ;)

I like the Beta 56 for snare as well.  Fits in there well and the pattern helps keep the hat out of the snare mic compared to a 57.  Sounds great on guitar amps too but the Sennheisers are less placement sensitive IME.

I was wondering why nobody got the joke. A Beta 56 is already a 90 degree mic. BaDaBoom

Boy, this is a tough room.

Unless you loosen the thumbscrew.  Then it becomes a 180 degree mic.   ;)

I'm actually surprised you don't see more of these.  Few 57s are used handheld.  And the B56 is much more compact on the end of the stand.

I guess with comedy timing is everything. I got a little premature on the downbeat.  :(
