Is that a PA-900 as your desk under the glass?

Yes-and it still worked when I put it there a few years ago.

Wow!  Carlsons and everything.  Can't remember seeing Heil use any of those.  I don't see the box of bullets (or piezos as the case may be) either.  Did those horns have enough highs?

I bought the Carlsons from a friend of mine who was a musician and got in a car wreck.

There are 4 of dual 3x5" piezos in there.

The HFs were 2" and 1".

It has been a few decades, but there were enough highs for the jobs I did.

When we invent the time machine-I really want to go back to a couple of times.  First to some of my gigs and to the original Woodstock.

Just to see what they REALLY sounded like-as compared to what I am used to these days.

I really feel I would be disappointed.  But for the time-they did the job-and that is what is important.

Ivan..

When you get there, drop by and say hello.  My little camp was back by the
Merry Pranksters bus.

If you remember that-then you weren't "really there"---------

Then you ought to see my office and restroom at work.

My restroom walls are covered with photos of old PA systems-adds-festivals etc

In my office-there is one wall that has something like 110 vintage amplifiers-from the 70s and 80s

The pride of the collection is a Crest 8001, serial number 001.

I have a complete Shure vocal Master setup-including the slave amp and the rare tweeter banks

On another wall is lots of brochures, adds, catalogs etc from the 70s and 80s

Here is a photo of my desk (at least before I covered it up with "Stuff" that I am working on)

The Kustom red speakers have been HIGHLY HIGHLY modified/hotrodded and really rock now.  I have a 2400 watt/ch amp I drive them with.

Pretty decent computer speakers

I remember the vocal Masters! They were hot stuff back in their time.

Man, I wish I would've kept some of the stuff from back in the day. Stuff like an original Flame Linear 700B from an early Clair system, the first driver I ever smoked at a gig (a 15" Peavey black widow), etc.

Those computer speakers look like they can crank out the jams.

Yes-and it still worked when I put it there a few years ago.

I had the chance to pick one up for $50 in Colorado Springs last week but didn't want to carry it back to Boston.

Of all the PA's I've been through the only three I cared about was my first, the Bogen and University horn system, my Vocal Master with 4ea. columns, and a Peavey something that never let me down, also with 4 columns.

I also ran powered monitors back in the 60's. They were called Fender Bandmasters.

All of the Bandmasters I am familiar with were separate heads and cabinets-so I would not call them "powered".

A twin however, could be called a powered monitor.

I've even seen people use them as the main PA.   So they had powered mains back in the 709's.

BTW, the first true powered speaker I remember was in the mid 70s and it was a floor wedge with a 50 watt amp.  I don't remember the brand, but Music Emporium sold them.  I will have to look through some of my catalogs from that era and see if I can find it.
