File this under KEEPing it off!
1. Enjoy the side salad instead of fries if you MUST eat at Micky D's.
2. Enjoy a LOT of ice in that sugary drink you MUST have occasionally.
3. Discover the wonderfulness of the variety of nuts to snack on instead of those old chips.
4. Think apples, oranges, and bananas, not to mention watermelon and cantalope.
5. Celery sticks with a lite sprinkle of salt can occasionally be a surprisingly great snack!
6. Go for the lean cuts of meat and go easy on carbs and fried foods.
7. It takes about 20 minutes for the "I'm getting full" signal to get from your stomach to your brain, so start with a salad, and as others have mentioned, slowing down and enjoying chewing is good advice. When that signal comes, LISTEN to it, quit eating and get busy with something else until you are truly hungry again.
8. Enjoy coffee flavored coffee at Starbucks instead of 800 calories of syrup.
9. Do enjoy some sort of regular physical activity. Sittin on your butt only makes your butt bigger.
Best of luck, have a great day!

hey

lots of good advice here, and all along a broadly similar theme.

When I was a bit younger used to do a lot of martial arts and fight in competitions etc, so used to spend a lot of my time keeping track of my weight and eating healthily. Everyone's bodies will be slightly different and it'll take a little experimentation to find what works exactly for you, but some broad guidelines that I would have suggested would be.

- Stay hydrated, rather than cutting out the tea as you mentioned in your initial post, cut out the Gatorade.

- Food should be as natural and unprocessed as possible, as close to growing, walking, flying or swimming as you can get.

- Most meals should be a portion of lean protein (lean meats, fish etc) and a big helping of veg and/or salad. Once a day have a portion of healthy carbs with it (rice, pasta (gluten free is good if you can), sweet potatoes, quinoa).

- Portion control is also huge, gradually train yourself to eat small portions often rather than the usual 3 big meals.

- Oats (as mentioned not instant) mixed with fruit, chia seeds and a tiny drop of honey makes a lovely and energy providing start to the day. As does a healthy omelet with a few egg whites and only one yolk. Or a blended kale smoothie, while slightly less appetising, positively supercharges your body (have a look at Joe Rogan's recipe for this)

- While you don't want to be gorging on it either, don't spend too much time looking at low fat.

- Instead focus on cutting out as much refined sugar (which you've already done a great job on) and refined white flour as possible. Limit bread, normal (non gluten free) pasta, and obviously cakes, sweets, chocolate etc etc to occasional treats.

- Consider some supplements. A good multivitimin to cover all bases, about 5000ui of Vitamen E a day and 1000-2000mg of cod liver oil or fish oil will make a big difference.

And as said physical activity is also super important. I'm sure you already do some while throwing sound gear about, but consider very gently ramping up some sort of physical training or going to the gym.

Try and force yourself up out of bed 15 or 20 mins early and start the day with a little light exercise, gets your blood flowing and kick starts your metabolism, you'll feel better through the day. Then later on, even just while you watch your fav TV program instead of sitting on the couch watching it do 30 mins walking on the treadmill or spend the time on the floor in front of it stretching your muscles. Try and use up "dead" time like that and make it a little more productive. A tablet/ipad/large screen phone can be great here for having something to watch and take the monotony away from the gym.

And above all else, go slow and make it habit.  Diet can mean two things, the general eating pattern of an animal, or a short term change in food intake to promote weight loss.

You need to go slow and make sure it's the first one!  Thinking of it in any way short term or going all out for a few weeks with an unsustainable big change, you'll just end up swinging back the other direction again even worse. Slow and steady, and make it just your new way of life!
