« on: May 15, 2015, 01:42:42 PM »

Out setup as follows:

Clear-Com MS 702
Director Headset into headset input of MS 702

Clear-Com Ab 120 #1

Headset into Clear Com ab 120
XLR splitter from mic out.  One end is sent to Tricaster XLR input and the other end goes to the other Ab 120 #2 IFB.
Male XLR end into Intercom/Talkback of AB 120 to Intercom Channel B input of the MS-702
Female XLR end into other Intercom/Talkback of AB 120 to other AB 120 Intercom/Talkback

Clear-Com Ab 120 #2
Headset into Clear Com ab 120
XLR splitter from mic out.  One end is sent to Tricaster XLR input and the other end goes to the other Ab 120 #1 IFB.

We've recently replaced our headsets.  Having trouble with wiring for the 6-pin connection.  The director headset signal appears faintly on program out when pushing talk on the MS702.  This problem didn't occur with our old headsets.

Let me know if anybody has suggestions on wiring for 6-pin.  Would also like to hear if our setup is flawed in anyway.  Ex..implementing an external mixer

What make and model headset?

"Old" headsets - shure BRH440M
Headsets with crosstalk problem - Audio Technica BPHS1  (AT suggested http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/accessories/a72d51ab63082720/index.html as the replacement cable to convert end to 6-pin

Does that AT cable have a separate shielded twisted pair for the mic? It needs one. There is no description on their website. Is it wired correctly?

Pin 1 - mic lo
Pin 2 - mic high
pin 3 - earpiece common
pin 4 - earpiece left
pin 5 - earpiece right
pin 6 - mic shield

We don't believe it is wired correctly.  We've been sending our cables to a local business.  AT must have not known that it needs a separate shielded twisted pair for the mic.  We had the original AT cable (XLR and 1/4") changed to 6-pin by the local business.  We barely got an audible signal outputting to the tricaster so thats why we contacted AT.  Looking back on it, it seems the local business isn't the best wiring cables.  Should we go back to re-wiring the original cable that came with the ATs?

Appreciate the feedback so far :)

I would follow Mac's advice and ensure that the XLR is wired correctly. Do a test after verifying or making it so, then let us know the results.

Finally got the cable back re-wired.  No more cross talk.  Thanks everybody!  Yup the problem was the original cable was not wired correctly and then AT gave us false information with buying 4pin cables.
