I paid $600 for my first mixer, a 7 channel peavey. in today's dollars that would be $2500.

At some point when your digital mics talk to the cloud, and your digital powered speakers can listen to the cloud, digital mixers will be a free app on your apple watch.

And when your connection to the cloud gets interrupted, we will have ¡No Va!® Audio.

This actually looks like something I can use. I have a steady gig that only requires 3 mics and 3 line inputs, and the 2 aux sends are perfect for the application as well. Hmmmmm....I may have to get better reading glasses to see my phone (or buy a 10" tablet).

They certainly are inexpensive but one has to include the price of an iPad to get a sense of the real cost.
While all of this wireless mixing is cool, ànd I use it for setup, if you get in a crowded 2.4 environment, you can be screwed.
Im not sure if these are 5 gig capable but I went to a dual band router due to poor to no connection capability in some of the convention centres in Toronto.

for sure, the ipad costs more than the mixer! Most of us have plenty of use for an ipad for other stuff, so it's not 100% an expense to be added in, but certainly that is a consideration. I was using an ipad to mix with my LS9, and that was all I did with it. I had such a difficult time getting those two to communicate with each other I didn't dare use it for anything else. If you didn't already have or want an ipad that would price this unit up quite a bit.

For talking head stuff, where I'm currently setting up a dl1608 and a router, I'd prefer the simplicty of this as long as I don't need delay speakers set up.

Good point!
Also, it looks like the X18 had Dugan automix software.
Now THAT might be worth it to use for just panel discussions.
