Need a free or low cost system diagram software
« on: January 29, 2015, 04:39:22 PM »

I need a free or low cost (like $50ish) software to build some quick and dirty system diagrams.

I usually use VISIO, but I had to rebuild my computer a few months back and have lost my VISIO install CD along with the license number.

Gnome dia is a free thing that's similar though probably nowhere near as full-featured.

I use Dia. Very similar to Visio, a bit complex to learn for some people, but once learned it's fast, accurate and very capable of doing the job.. Plus, it's FREE.

I picked up a full VISIO license for $10 through Microsoft's "Home Use Program".   I am not sure if it is just because my employers has enterprise licenses for office or what though.

Looks nice. I downloaded and have been using AV Snap. Also free and seems capable. Once I knock out these three system diagrams I'll dig a little deeper into it.
