If this was for serious, I would just buy some KSubs.

Guess everyone's definition of serious is different.  K-subs suck.  You can get B'stock KW-181's for the same price and they pass everyone's kick ass for the $$$ test.  DJ, Karokee or small live band gig the KW's are versatile and powerful.  To get better you have to spend three times as much.

Great point!

Let me add, I like the KSub (and others) because the speakers are tucked away.

I don't load and unload my gear, so the better the protection from the factory on damage the better.

I know this seems silly, but it is what it is.

J.  I have an electric drum kit and I'd like to add a little low end when doing that as well as when we play our backing tracks for our "karaoke" rock stuff that we do in the shed.

The gigs I do we don't even mic the backline.  It's just vocal mics and a keyboard from time to time.
I'm confused.

You say you have an electronic drum kit and you also say that only vocals and keyboard go through the PA.

Is this sub for the PA or for the drum kit only?

Oh and the Danley TH-118 sucks even less!   The more money you spend the less suck factor (with the right people of course).

I would pay a premium for it having a built in battery pack that would last for an entire weekend, or a fusion generator , either would work...

A Mr. Fusion generator can be powered by stale beer. That could be a bonus.  ;)
