Maxxbass hookup questions
« on: December 20, 2014, 01:31:15 PM »

Hi, I recently bought a waves maxxbass unit on the'bay'.  Have a couple of questions about the best way(s) to hook it up. I have noticed that an input on one channel will have full range output on that channel, and mostly low frequency output on the other channe, ie. only one input.
So in a live situation I'd like to feed a sub, or be able to use it as an insert on one channel or group. An oddity I have come across is with the unit inserted on my Mixwiz 2, there will be about 0db showing on the pfl regardless of input level, or with no input.

Thanks. Hanno

There are several different maxxbass models. Which model did you purchase?

Here is the users manual for the 107.
http://www.musicalstore.net/manuali/WAVES_MAXXBASSPRO107_ENG.pdf
The manual always shows the 107 placed in the signal chain between the mixer and the power amp.

how about telling us more about YOUR particular setup.

Such as -as you running the subs off of an aux.

What sort of processing (analog-DSP etc) do you have in your system, what your speaker system is and so forth.

The actual hookup can vary depending on YOUR setup.

Maxxbass hookup questions
« Reply #6 on: December 21, 2014, 05:04:22 PM »

Currently:
Mixwiz,
Sabine graphiQ used as eq and high pass for tops(FBT maxx)
Auxfed sub processed by Sabine graphiQ2 for high pass and lowpass.Crown K1 to one TH28

So my questions are about inserting into a channel, where the Mixwiz shows level in the pfl on that channel, even though there is no input. All the "official" maxxbass setups are stereo.

Or would it be better to just process the sub?
I realize I need to process the signal before any high pass filter, I.e. Speaker dsp.

A lot of my work is in very reverberant spaces

What do you hear if you solo the channel?

Nothing. That is what is bothering me. The signal shown is just before the pfl goes to yellow
