Soundcraft si compact 32
« on: November 28, 2014, 12:20:57 PM »

I have the opportunity to buy a sc32 compact for a great price, but need to figure out if it can be upgraded to what the expression is/does? The soundcraft web site isn't clear enough for this unit.
Thanks

What do you think the Expression will do that the Compact won't?

No, I believe that you're stuck with the many limitations, and few benefits, that the Compact has compared with the Expression.

Will this unit accept the madi card and be able to use the mini 32stage box as well? The sc web site has little info on it but it does have a new upgrade, with little info, other than dl instructions

Huh? The Expression and Compact are the same board in nearly every way. Firmware for both boards are developed together so they have the same I/O, card slots, etc. Only difference I know between the boards are the labels on the buttons.

A bunch of very-low cost sound mixer boards were released after the Compact was out, so Soundcraft re-branded to the Expression board to justify the drastic price reduction they had to do to compete.

Although very similar, the Expression has the edge over the compact.

Expression will do more inputs to mix (66) than compact (40). That's the biggest difference. Besides that it's mostly a facelift.

Will it do the full 32 with the stage box as an add on or as someone else said it will only do 40 ?
