Not to throw a wrench into things, but I prefer the RDL PT-AMG2 for most general purpose things.
http://www.rdlnet.com/product.php?page=1I have 2 Q-Boxes (an old and new version) in my workbox that rarely get used, I find that I almost always grab the RDL box. The tone generator sounds better than the Q-Box, as does the speaker, and the meter is fairly accurate. The meter is the best part, actually. It doesn't have 1/4" ins or outs, or a headphone out, and you need to make sure you turn it off when you're done because it takes 2 9V batteries, but it's a great tool to have. I don't think it has phantom power (I don't know if the Qbox does either), but since I usually use it on line level sources that's not an issue. It's my favorite portable audio tester.
The Ebtech is my favorite cable tester, and I have several. You should definitely pick one up sometime. The "B" version, despite appearances, isn't the same quality. I have several of those too.
