Should I get a new one?
« on: October 30, 2014, 05:00:10 PM »

Just hit the 250K on my '02 Silverado. Thinking about a new one, but this one has been very good to me.

The best part it's been paid for a long time ago. 8)

Don't sell!

You've still got almost a full tank.

Wow, it still has good oil pressure.  I'm surprised.

No shit. Runs out of gas equals NEW CAR. I don't have time to go and find a freakin' oil field to refuel a car! Sheesh. Time is money.

The legend has it that Steve Jobs never had a license plate on his silver Audi or Mercedes or whatever. That when you get a new car, you have 6 months to get a plate, and so every six months, he got a new car.

Driving around at 500rpm and less than 1mph shouldn't put much wear on the truck. Keep it for another month or at least until you get to where you're going.

If you like it, drive it 'till it needs an expensive repair, then if you can't sell it as is, donate it to a charity for the tax write-off - there's a number of them that take cars.  Looks like that's what I'll be doing with my 207,000 mile '93 Q45 with dead power steering and a bad head gasket.

Lol, you don't know how lucky you are :) Did a quick conversion/calculation and you would be paying $6.32 per gallon (usd) if were buying petrol here.
Diesel would be $4.19 per gallon (usd).

Personally, I'd trade it in and get the Maserati on the wages we all get paid.   :)

But that's just me.
