Next time, unplug everything from the amp. If no buzz, plug in bass, try a different cord (one with known good shielding), try  a different guitar,...  Eliminate variables, add stuff in one at a a time.

I always carry my own instrument cords to replace the crap that someone has wadded up for the past decade in a gig bag.Several times I have heard 'my cord works fine' I've used it for years, and after replacement and all the noise goes away they say 'guess I need a new cord' and I take a moment to explain the benefit of being nice to your cords.

I'll try that next time. The cable is a decent one:

I know Monster has a bad rep around here, but I have two of this model, and they have worked well.

Monster cables are fine in my mind, just overpriced and too much marketing BS.

The braiding on any braided cable can open up over time if the cord isn't properly handled.  Once the braiding gets a few holes it is much more susceptible to external crap that causes noise.

The neon lights are the culprit.

That sounds like a country song to me...

That's what my bass player said. I try not to argue with her. She's my wife!  ;D

Did a TV show years ago where the set designer had neon tubing highlighting the top edge of the set.
Some instument pickups are ok with it, some are horrible.

Heck the neon lights themselves usually create plenty of buzz on their own without amplification.
