Jamin, was that Philmont? I have been through there twice. One 110 mile trek that went up baldy and then another leisurely 60 mile trek that stayed south. I still do quite a bit of hiking on my own thanks to the skill set I learned back then.

Yes, that was it. I've been on the long trip a couple of times. It was back in the '60's I don't remember the 60's. I was told I had fun.

We hiked in to most all of our events and Jamborees while the other troops drove in.

So I'm an Eagle Scout. My dad, who does some work for me on occasion, is an Eagle Scout. One of my techs (Hi, Alex!) is an Eagle Scout. And the DJ I am bringing in to do a high school Homecoming Dance this Saturday is an Eagle Scout.

Who on here is an Eagle Scout? Just wondering. :)

-Ray

Received my Eagle in 1973, shortly before my birthday as well. Never made it to Philmont, but went to Forestburg several times. I also made it to several jamborees as well.

Not me. My Cub Scout troop kicked me out in third grade.

I guess being a minority, with long hair, and not a Christian; I wasn't up to their standards in mid '80s Oklahoma.

Eagle class of '99 and OA Brotherhood.  Made it to Jamboree a couple times both as attendee and staff, but never got to Philmont or Sea Base.

I'm also OA Brotherhood, but never went to Philmont or Sea Base (sounded too much like the L Ron Hoover church of appliantology), but the Charles L. Somers Wilderness Canoe Base in Ely, MN was a "must do".

Justice,  I can't tell from your Google+ picture are you American Indian?  I have always been curious of the ethnicity of your name.

OK I am confused, you said "being a minority, with long hair"  That didn't jive with your pic so that's why I asked.

Lots of Indians have European names. Something about western civilization insisting on making everyone use the surname of the father's family. In my case my Indian heritage comes from my paternal grandmother, who married a white preacher, who's family was from somewhere in the middle of the European continent.
