Would that not be testing 001, testing 010, testing 011, testing 001 ad nauseum?

In thirty years, I have never said "testing 1, 2, 3" into a microphone.  I don't intend to start ever!

Laughing....yeah the binary was the focus of the humor.  For a cooler version the hey hey check 01 11 is analogous.

Since this is the basement the thread could morph into what is a professional test in different scenarios such as clubs. .arena...festival...corp...HOW et al

Of course, there's the old joke, "There are 10 kinds of people, those who understand binary and those who don't."

Sound checks: I usually start with "heyyyyy yep, yeahhhh yep check" and if there's people starting to show, then I might morph into a bit of show promo. Depends also on if I am providing signal to the mic while an A1 is adjusting the board, or if I am just holding the wireless at FOH while doing it myself-- if I am doing it myself, then whatever gets me done as fast as possible.

I usually get someone else to do the checks.  If no one is willing, I start singing until someone else insists on doing it!

If I'm doing a line check ("make sure sound going into microphone comes out of speakers") without setting levels, I'll make a clucking sound. Fairly unobtrusive, most people milling about don't even really notice it.

For setting levels, I'll have someone read some text out of a book or something. Trying to think of random stuff on the spot doesn't really work. The hardest part is to get them to continue talking as levels change or if sound stops coming out of the speakers.
