dbx 4800 discontinued?
« on: August 19, 2014, 03:34:34 PM »

It's been some time since I had been to the dbx site and was surprised to find the 4800 is now being listed as discontinued. At the same time the 4820 is still listed but the sales innuendo is indicating it is the 4800 replacement.

Both the 4800 and 4820 came out at the same time almost 7 years ago, and with the exception of much less front panel control on the 4820, are identical in almost every way. I went to the site looking for some updated tunings and now wonder if we've seen the last of the tuning updates much like what happened to the 480 once it's days of glory were over.

I suspect a new product will be coming soon, so I wonder if anyone has any insight.

I would really like to see a 4800 replacement with iTechHD equivalent  processing (the 4800 was iTech equivalent). Also, 8 in and 8 out, with Dante.... Wait a minute, just described a BLU-806.

I would expect a replacement as well as the 4800 is the only performance manager processor.

Blu definitely won't do the same processing as iTech though. It's sort of annoying.

....it won't load itechHD presets... But it can do everything an HD can do... Or are you getting at something else?

The word from our Harman rep is that VerTec v5 processing will not be available in a stand-alone device.

From what I can tell it won't run V5 vertec processing.

A BLU processor could easily run vertec presets if JBL would create them.... but they won't.
