SRX with or without "The Orange Badge"
« on: August 17, 2014, 05:47:01 PM »

Does this have something to do with when they were made?  Or is there a different reason some have it and some don't?

They all came with them. Some of us just took them off.

It's interesting that if you google images, you find many like the one I pictured where some have them and some don't within the same rig.  My "new" 722's do not have them.  Anyone have a pair laying around they'd care to donate?

That's funny - I've never known someone to seek the badge. It reminds people of eons and JRX. Usually people want it off! It's tacky IMHO.

All our other JBL cabs are badged.  These don't match.  First gig with them last night, the bass player (who owns a ton of JBL cabs) thought they were QSC's when he first saw them.

Mostly nothing above SRX has them, like JBL VP, VRX, or Vertec, and neither does the SRX replacement STX. I think because of that, some people like to take them off of SRX so they look more high end as opposed to being mistaken for JRX. In my market, I'd say more than 80% of the SRX around has the tags removed, taped over, (or perhaps didn't come with them as happened with yours. I mean whatever floats your boat, I don't care,  this is just my observation of local users, I thought night interest you.

In another thread recently, someone commented how the orange badge added cache to the lower JBL's among people who can't tell one line from the other.  That's the way it is around here.  The orange badge is a positive eye-catcher to most.  We're happy to shout out "look at our JBL's!"
