Ron, I'm thrilled to see you up and around and communicating. I don't get in here much since I'm doing something else, but I'm glad I decided to look in. I hope your health continues to improve!

Gene, it's great to see you around, too. Hope you are well as ever. Take care...

So today, I'm trying to wake up, drinking my morning cup of coffee. At 3PM.

The phone rings with some unknown wacky area code, I answer with belligerence, ready to call yet another telemarketer's parentage into question, and to do my best to make sure this SOB has a really bad day, to the point where he goes home and puts a .38 in his mouth. Don't judge me, this is what I do. Fucking thieves, stealing my time and using my phone service for their marketing without my permission, this is theft of service.

But this guy uses my real name and then tells me his; Ron Hebbard.

Oops. Holy shit.

We had a nice 45 minute chat about anything and everything. He is doing well, his vision is improving a bit.

Other than the weird blindness he has (from his description I'm guessing it is like looking at things through a telescope when you are way too close), he seems in good health. I really enjoyed hearing from him, and figured I'd share this here.

Note:
If you
want to
email him,
doing it
like this
makes it
a lot
easier
for him
to read.

And keep
it short.

Not a joke, that's the way his vision is now. But it is improving.

He also mentioned that he has got a shitload of emails  from people here, but it takes him a lot of effort to read them, let alone respond. That's why he called me instead of replying to my last email to him.

Best wishes, Ron.

Wonderful, pass along the good words to Ron from my family and I with hopes he continues to become more healthy with each passing day.

And thanks for the update Gene.

So sad to hear this news.  Ron was a great spirit here.

Ron and I had a wonderful theatre and audio "online friendship" for over 20 years.  About a week ago my "sound guy sense" started tingling and I noticed that Ron hadn't logged into controlbooth.com for about 10 days.  It didn't feel right.  Today I was at CB and read the news that he'd passed.

Just before Covid became a "thing" Ron had gone AWOL from CB, I ran the flag up the poll and some of the fine Canadian folks from CB eventually found family members who told us he'd taken ill but was improving and they extended our well wishes to him.

It was a gut punch today when I saw he was gone.
