Does the UV-1G use digital or analog transmission? Related to that, is there latency?

It is all analog AM - dual sideband suppressed carrier.  Beltpack TX in VHF Band and Base TX in UHF band.  using only 1 VHF and 1 UHF TV channel you can have over 180 beltpacks.

Programming via menu or computer and beltpack syncing.  Audio quality similar to BTR.  Functions all very similar to BTR.

Also beltpack antennas are internal to pack! No more loosing them.

Thanks, Peter.
So no latency then? That's good news.

Henry, when you get the system finalized, I would love to host an open product demo for the middle of the country at my venue.

Duly noted Justice. We will be making the rounds.

The MSRP for a 4 drop RAD UV-1G is $8500.00 and 6 drop $11,340.00 for 6 drop.

Pete - Those are the prices for just the base station, without beltpacks. Beltpacks are $3135.00 each, MSRP.

The UV-1G is analog audio and analog transmission scheme. There is however both A to D and D to A stages in both audio directions, in both the belt packs and base so we can utilize a DSP to tweak audio tone, levels and some other factors. Roundtrip system latency is about 4mS.

opps - I thought that was too low - I was misled by the description in the price list.  Probably should read Base with 4 recievers instead of 4 drop which, in my mind means with beltpacks.  Sorry to sell you too low...

Yeah, I can see where that might be confusing. I'll bring it up with the others and see if we might change the wording.

Thank you, Henry. Are they doing the analog to analog trick for sidetone to eliminate latency there?

Don't know how they do sidetone but 4ms isn't long enough for anyone to notice.  Strength of hearing the base when you talk is self checking that everyone heard you.

If the system is moving from city to city, my experience shows great with the Telex BTR-800 system. After that would be the tempest. Have had issues with the HME stuff, and even some of the tempest.  But once you got it squared away it'd only give you fits every now and then. BTR-800's though. Scan each day using helicals for antennas... Solid with lots of range.
