JBL STX Owners......

I wish that had gotten out at the top of the thread. You are using processing for a different box, and you blew drivers. Not to say that is a complete explanation, but you won't be able to troubleshoot properly or especially not get anyone at JBL to help given that crazy situation.

Also: why use a Driverack, leaving the iTech processing dormant?

I can take my lumps if I've caused the problem myself, won't be the first or last time. My whole point of this thread was to see if anyone else might have experienced the same issue.

[/quoI don't know, I guess because it makes it easy to quickly configure the system in different ways like when I use the top boxes without subs, or tri-amp them with the 728's. Had I not already owned the dbx's I would use the processing in the Itech'ste]

How much could the high frequency processing needs be different between the two anyway?
Especially since I am running the stx's in full range mode, using the internal crossover.....

Seriously though, I do appreciate the help & suggestions. I'll replace the two bad ones, find the proper settings for the stx's,  & we'll see how it goes....

If you're using the cabs full range, then the processing is going to have zero effect on the horn driver.  I was always amazed when local musician's somehow thought they could biamp a JBL SR cab and come up with a better solution than the JBL engineers did in the passive xover.  I think this went back to the old days of limited amp power and thinking they could get a few more db by doing that.
