Tim,
I stayed away from the infringement because it angers me to the point I want to say things I'll regret, even if true. I touch base now and again on a couple of sites dedicated to Gibson guitars. There's absolutely no shame or regret when some of those assholes brag about their $300 Les Paul Custom, ES-335 or Chinese knockoff of other manufacturers guitars. I see the same thing here with the OP's post, don't like it, and won't tolerate it. I don't think those are home brew cabinets, I think they're copies bought cheap by some asshole who doesn't know any better, or maybe does know better, but just can't pass up on the celebrity of owning an array "just like the big boys". As for the OP, he's done here and will migrate back to some site where the rest of the kid's all play in the same look at my dick sand box.

It is not a fact that the speakers are L'Acoustic copies, it is hearsay. It is probably wishful thinking of the op's buddy that his speakers are comparable to L'Acoustics, or perhaps it was a sales pitch from a salesman.  It would be nice to know who actually manufactured them.
I won't insult the guy or his band, they are having a good time and providing entertainment in their area.
However, it is not clear to me what the purpose of his post was.
It always amazes me how many people talk tough on-line. I took a look at the photo of those dudes. I wonder how many people would make insulting remarks to those guys face to face. I bet the result would be, as Jim Harbaugh said, ".....go to the face, come with some knuckles....."

Robert,
So there will be no confusion on your end concerning me. What I say on line is exactly what I'll say to your face.

And the band still sucks.

This is my buddy's system, which according to him is a copy/knock-off of L'Acoustics. He runs a 24 channel Presonus StudioLive mixer and an Ashly processor controlled by a small netbook. Unsure of the Ashly model. I didn't get close enough to the stage to see everything, but I did see four QSC amps. Two were for the subs and I assume the other two were for mains. Carvin TRX12-N monitors.

Three separate phones were showing about 98dB (A) at the desk. Very clear and crisp sounds from all instruments.

Hey Colin, the wolf pack has been extra hungry lately since nobody wants to post on the forum anymore for fear of being eaten alive.

I'm civilized wolf, thank you very much....

Post stupid shit on the Classic LAB - expect to be called out.  Post stupid shit in the Lounge - probably get away with it.

Part of why Live Audio Board, in its original incarnation, was a success is because we didn't tolerate b.s.  This 'kinder, gentler' version doesn't convey the same sense of professional standards, which is why the Lounge was created.  I remember when we had owners of major regional and mid-level national providers contributing, and they went away as the place dumbed down.  Now you're stuck with me. ;)

But let's look at what is going on here:  If Colin hadn't pushed the "dV copy" aspect this would have simply been moved to the Lounge or Basement, perhaps a few folks would have taken potshots at the band (or not).  It would have eventually been pushed off the first index page by new posts and this would all be gone in a couple of weeks.  His decision to put his post in the Classic LAB and insistence that there was some kind of substance we'd overlooked, though, is the fail.

However, it is not clear to me what the purpose of his post was.

You know, in reality, it was probably something along the lines of "I wanna impress these guys with this cool shit I saw" -- not realising the a) legal implications of intellectual property theft and b) also not seeing that the Classic LAB is for the big boys... As Tim mentioned, had he posted in the lounge, probably would have been OK.

I think he was just trying to brag, and did not know that it takes a bit to impress on here, what with the caliber of talent that frequents here. Knock off speakers? Boring. Change the laws of physics or re-write Ohm's Law? Now that's something to mention... :D Mac programming shit for Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett? That's awesome!
