Sitting in the dark again...
« on: July 26, 2014, 07:22:49 PM »

Today was day 2 of the load in and tech for a TV shoot featuring Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga. Whoda thunk? This has to be the largest gathering of Neumann mics I've ever seen. There is a sea of LDC mics out there. I'm sitting in the dark programming the Reidel Artist comm system with 14 panels and 30 digital belt packs, 13 cameras, and 3 Telex BTR800 systems. This looks like it could be a cool show on Great Performances.

As I sit here at the sound check that started an hour and a half late and shows no sign of slowing, I know I'm Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered. Good thing we don't tape till Monday night.

I still think it's going to be a cool show, I just wish I could have been on my way home by now like the production schedule promised.

I found out today that the show we're taping tonight will be broadcast on Oct 24th. LG posted a clip of an early rehearsal HERE.

Tape's away...

The Big Band is playing, the quartet, quintet, and orchestra will be coming up. I hear the lady is running late, we may vamp for a while. Meal penalty is at 11.

Is the Artist system installed in a truck or a standalone package? Does each of the cameras have it's own 4w port?

Hope the show goes well.

No truck, it's a 13 camera flypack with a 2 node Reidel system from Firehouse. The cameras are all 4K HD, and they claim this will be the first concert broadcast in 4k HD. We'll see, when it finally goes to air in Oct.

There are no camera ISOs, the flypack came with only a single RTS input to the cameras, and no real CCUs. They run through Telecast Copperheads. They all have film camera lenses, so not a lot of zooming. Three jibs and 10 remote control focus pullers for those film lenses.
