Opinions on Ramsa WZ-DE45 or other DSPs
« on: September 26, 2005, 02:08:40 AM »

Has anyone worked with the Ramsa DSPs like the WZ-DE45?

I'm trying to find a good reasonably priced (~$300) DSP for feedback, EQ, comp, etc. I have always had good luck with Ramsa products (sound + reliability) and am thinking of giving this unit a shot.

Have tried a Shure DFR11EQ5, but the auto filters don't seem fast enough.

Also considering the DBX Driverack PA, but I worry what it will do to the sound out of the A&H (I haven't had good luck in the past with DBX's bottom line products).

I'm open to ideas.

Thanks to all who respond.

Ramsa has a piss-poor track record in pro audio and specifically with service. They also significantly downsized their US operations and offer virtually no product support at all.

Their DSP in particular was poorly designed and has virtually no presence in the US market. It's been years since I have worked with one (so I cannot recall exactly what was wrong) but it is off my list of any DSP that I would use. In general, the functions provided and the GUI stink.

I'm surprised you find the DFR "slow" with its autofeedback reduction circuitry. I do not. In all ways I find the DFR and P4800 to be superior to other, cheaper devices such as those from Sabine, Behringer and a few others.
