Looking for recommendations for a pair of decent passive wall-mountable speakers, 8"or 10" woofer, Speakon connector preferred, budget range $300 - $500, something in the form factor of the RCF TT08.  These will replace a pair of ancient pole mounted EV Entertainer! speakers in a small church.

Use Omnimount for wall mounting.

Tannoy?  VX8 or Di8 DC.  C3110 (?) from RCF.

The ZX1 (8", 2-way) from EV has been in production for 8+ years and continues to impress me, as well as a good number of others who post here, for its bang-for-the-buck. There is no comparison with earlier EV loudspeakers, in my experience. Cost is on the low side of your range.

Use Omnimounts (or equivalent) for wall mounting.

Ditto. We use a lot of these on our campus. Inexpensive, sound good, look good, several configurations available, depending on your needs.

I installed a pair of these recently in a church, since your ok with a possible 10"  They are a dual 8" design and sound great,(no rhyme intended), taller but slender and come in white
Yorkville C2891W Price:$369.00
90 x 30 Rotatable horn, maybe a little tight pattern for you
 Sensitivity (dB @1Watt/1m) 97

EV ZX series are great speakers.  Also look at the QSC S8T (8", MAP $390) and/or S10T (10", MAP $540).  They share many characteristics with the powered K series.  Also include mounting hardware.

You haven't mentioned anything regarding pattern, output, impedance, etc. and some of those would typically be relevant factors in any speaker selection as seems to be involved here.  Also, what do you plan to do for the low frequency reproduction?

The Fulcrum Acoustic CX896 seems to meet all your goals other than the price.

The Renkus-Heinz CFX81 or TRX81 may be options.  So might the Vue Audiotechnik i-8, Community V2-8 or DS8 or any of many other possibilities out there without further narrowing down the requirements for the speaker.
