YES.

There were also plenty of used Compellors floating about the last time I looked.

Mr. Doug. Please describe the attributes of this particular compressor in simple terms so that I may better familiarize myself with it's characteristics. Specifically those which make this unit a top choice for use as an overall system compressor. I bow to your extended depth of knowledge in all matters of sound.

It's a puzzling piece to many.  You truly can not hear it "working", so it's not suitable for compression as an effect.

Best advice is to read the manual.

I'm pretty sure John Chiara uses a Compellor.

Thanks Doug. I have a passion for compressors can't be heard working and have never liked the use of a compressor for an effect. Even for guitar you won't find any noticeable compressors on my pedal boards. I want to hear the instrument or a persons voice in it's natural state, not colored, not squashed, etc.. I've used a Compellor in the past, many years ago, and maybe I don't remember it's virtue because it's presence wasn't easily detected. Now with the digital board in place I guess that even though you've peaked my interest I won't find a need to buy one any time soon. Damn it.

Hey Guys, I'm on the search again for another piece of gear. I'm trying to build a decent multipurpose FOH rack for a couple different places i mix at and my own system. I recently purchased a DN370 for the EQ section and am now looking for a 2 Ch compressor. I know there are plenty of them out there, I'm just looking for opinions on things you guys have used and liked in the past. ie we have a JoeMeek stereo comp that is 2U but only has one set of adjustments for both channels and 1 VU meter. Also I've seen some recent posts on the MAXXBCL and have thought about that as an option I just would like to hear it first. Anyways, Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks in advance.

Michael

I'd go digital

Try an Alan Smart . You will never give it up after you've tried one.

Regards to the list,
Roger
I also use a Alan Smart C2 as a system compressor -- never looked backed!
