Broken "Bridge Mono" Workaround
« on: May 14, 2014, 03:13:35 AM »

Fellas, quick question to bounce off the communal brainpower here.

I have a few older QSC MX2000a's, one of which suffers from a bridging problem. When the mode selector switch is set to "Bridge Mono", the A input is not copied to the B channel. This is obviously not helpful.

Would a possible workaround be using the input binding posts to connect the inputs together, and manually reversing the polarity between the channels?

If not, anything else?

Thanks!

While I have never done it, I don't see why that wouldn't work.

Yes. Just remember, you'll have to match the input gains.
If I remember correctly, using the switch, you set ch2 gain to max, and set your desired level with ch1.

+1

There may be subtle issues with current limiting that are switched for bridge mode, but you can't both be in bridge mode and have both inputs work. There could also be subtle issues associated with polarity swap via input connection.

Maybe fix the amp?

Totally agree on contacting QSC, I'll put in a call today. This was more of a short-term fix to get through a gig this weekend, wish we had spares!
