Speed of Sound
« on: May 30, 2014, 07:01:24 PM »

This video was posted on my local new affiliate about a lighting strike. If you watch it with audio, it "appears" that you can hear the lighting, before the strike.  That doesn't seem logical to me.  Any ideas?

I wouldn't attach much importance to the audio/video sync over the internet. In that situation it should have been simultaneous, video clearly lagged audio.

I know you know this, Mac.

Audio/thunder will lag video/strike due to much slower speed-of-sound versus speed-of-light.

In the OP's case, they must have had (and recorded) multiple strikes and then edited the wrong thunder for the strike they showed.
