HELP! Setting Up A Sound System For Church
« on: April 16, 2014, 01:25:10 PM »

Hello everyone, I need help setting up a sound system for a church. The size of the church is fairly small, 100-150 people. We're thinking of upgrading our sound system at church. I've been searching online for the equipment that we might be needing. So far this is what I've come up with.

Yamaha MGP24X Mixer
Alto TS115A Powered Speakers (2 Mains)
Behringer EUROLIVE F1320D (2 Powered Stage Monitors)
Rapco Horizon Pro Series Snake 16x4
Live Wire Elite 12-Gauge Speakon to 1/4 Inch Speaker Cable (4 seperate)

Our budget is around $3200. My first doubt so far is which main speakers to choose? I was also looking at the JBL EON 515XT but I've seen a lot of people saying that the Alto speakers are better. Second doubt I have are the powered stage monitors. Third doubt is whether or not to get a subwoofer. It's a small venue size church as I mentioned, I don't know if I would be needing a subwoofer when the 2 mains have a pretty good sounding bass.

Any advice, opinion or critic is welcome, please help! Thanks!

Could you describe the current system, and why you feel it doesn't meet your needs?

Also, is this a portable speakers-on-sticks situation or are you looking to fly the mains overhead permanently? Flying speakers overhead where they could potentially fall and kill somebody is definitely not a do-it-yourself job.

With powered speakers, you don't need speakon to quarter inch cables, replace those with long XLR cables.

Is this permanent install or portable church?
