Recommend Updates for Midas Pro2/1 V3 Software
« on: April 15, 2014, 10:36:35 AM »

This thread was created because as far as I know there is not a Ideascale or a place to post our recommended upgrades to the next software version for Midas Pro series.
My intention is to not start a debate about whats a good idea or bad.  Its simple to give Midas a idea of our wants and needs.  I figure that if enough of us post the same recommended updates then maybe they will act on it.
They're mother company seems to listen so why shouldn't they.

My list:

#1  Save the channel name, and VCA assignment in the whole channel preset.
The name is the most important piece when saving a whole channel preset why is it not there.

#2  Have some sort of save history list you can go back to if you screwed up saving your scene or show file.

#3  UNDO button.  We need a go back one step button.  Or call it save my ass button.

#4  Parametric and graphic EQ's on all outputs.

#5  In flip mode you should be able to do the X32 style flip.  Select your channel in flip mode and see the levels of that channel on the output faders for 8 mixes at a time.

#6  A Check box in setup so that you can turn on and off safety pop up windows when jumping scenes.  I have solved this problem by installing covers over my Next and Last buttons using the SIP button covers.

#7  Talk Back on the back of the desk should be used for the talk back circuit.  I was told currently it really doesn't serve a purpose.

#8  The up and down arrows in the aux knob area (pro2) should light up to indicate what group of 8 your on.  Top group (top arrow) middle group (both arrows) bottom group (bottom arrow)

#9  When you have more than 8 channels in a pop group and that pop group is selected the desk should automatically go into extend mode (pro1/Pro2c) Have a box in setup to turn this on and off.

I think that most of these ideas could have a check box in setup to turn them on and off.  I say give us the option to turn things on and off.

I think Midas needs to realize that the price point that these desks are now in puts them in the hands of local / regional sound companies which handle throw and go festivals for the most part.  Lets face it the desk is designed for touring but carries a festival price tag.  We need speed of setup like names in the presets and safety of not jumping scenes by accident that in a festival situation could mean from one band to another.  FYI I'm sick of hearing "its Linux based the software can't do that" Bullshit X32 does it, so does every other Linux based desk.

Please post your ideas below.  If you don't voice your opinion they wont know what you want.

Having the Cue follow the mix that you are listening to when in a monitor world environment is my biggest thing.

Hello,

My List.

1) Allow Aux ON/OFF to be unlinked on linked channels. This would allow me to have two linked channels, 1 for main mix, one for monitors.

I could control the aux levels from the main mix channel but it only affects the monitor mix channel since I would have the send turned off on the main channel but the send levels still linked.

This would work as a work around for the lack of pre-eq sends.

2) When using a Zoomed in Graphic on Mixtender 2, Still allow access to the Mix master Fader and mute for that graphic without having to zoom back out.

Thanks

My list –
•   Pre-fader pre-EQ auxiliary sends.
•   When you select an aux send which has an EFX assigned, the EFX appear on the screen; have the same happen when there is an EQ assigned to an aux send.
•   An RTA displayed on the EQ page like the iLive and the X32.
•   A better reverb like a Lexicon …. or iLive 482 patch!
•   GEQs and PEQs on all outputs automatically like an iLive
•   Dynamic EQs on all channels like a Digico

Thx

Post Fader Insert Points.  Let me get my Dugan in there without crazy workarounds!

Pre-EQ aux sends are not possible owing to the hardware.

Justin's idea of un-linked Aux on/off is a great one that I wish I'd thought of.
