For the topic, if you were to solo one of the vocal mics, and you had great cans and a quiet place to listen, you would hear kick, bass, and room rumble along with what you want. Even with a high pass. Remember, a high pass isn't a brick wall so even though those low frequencies are down perhaps 10dB, with a bunch of open mics you get plenty of unwanted signal. And, it is out of time with mic on the kick or the DI on the bass so it muddies things up.

The first time I did aux subs at an event I was surprised at how much cleaner everything sounded. Of course, YMMV.
