Mixer Intercom/Interface
« on: April 01, 2014, 11:14:50 AM »

I am looking for a device where I can take the headset output of my com belt pack plug into the device take the output plug into my headset and feed from my console cue. What I want to is to able to listen to com and be able to cue inputs on my desk at the same time. I found AD-MIX1 that was made by Production Intercom it's been discontinued and they went out of business. Any one else make something like AD-MIX1? Does any one have a schematics or plans?
Thanks

Production Intercom is back in business, the founder's daughter is running the firm and has posted here recently. Give them a phone call and see if they have an AD-MIX sitting on a shelf or if there are plans to bring it back.

Pete Erskin provides lots of intercom DIY projects:  http://bestaudio.com/downloads.htm  Check the rest of the site to get an idea of the events Pete works on...

I expect he or Mac Kerr will see this and contribute, too.

I'm not sure what console your using, but you can often add an external input into the cue mix using the console (either as a designed-in option, or with some cleverness).

Otherwise, get an appropriate 2w-4w converter for your comms system, and use one of these: http://fischer-amps.de/en/in-ear-monitoring/new-in-ear-body-pack-xl/browse/1/artikel/-fb213c375b/index.php/inear-monitoring-hardware.html

Put the cue out from your console in here stereo, and then use the additional mono input for the comms. Voila. Pretty cheap too.

EDIT: Fischer do a rackmount mains-powered variant too if you'd rather that.

I use this http://www.audiomanproducts.com/ISO-Box-1-5-Items-ISO-Box-1-5-Items.htm patched into a console input to monitor Coms.

My issue is that I use different types of com systems in needs to com off the belt back headset output.

That's pretty cool.  So i can take the end of a chain of a com line, put this in line -> into console -> cue this in my headphones & then in theory have a mic going out of the desk back into another one of these & into the com system and eliminate a com headset?

that's pretty sweet.

No nulling or side tone adjustment though.
