Gooseneck Mic Storage/ Case
« on: March 31, 2014, 04:02:59 PM »

Does any one have a case solution for a 22" gooseneck / podium mic? The only restrictions are it needs to be cheap and have extra space for a spare windscreen and capsule. If you'd like more information the mic we need a case for is a Shure MX418 which is actually 22 1/2" long.

Thanks in advance.

Stole this idea from a colleague: buy and cut a length of the appropriate diameter PVC pipe with one or two end caps.

+1 on the PVC pipe solution. I used a piece of 2 1/2" with a little shipping foam glued around the inside of the pipe. I can store a couple mics in there and it fits in back of the drawer with the rest of mic kit.

I picked up a cheap poker chip case on ebay for my mx418. Tear out the form fitted chip tray, put some foam inside that I cut to fit the mic and a weighted base. It's perfect.
Here's the one I got...
