Shure ULX2 Transmitter Only: Where to Buy?
« on: March 25, 2014, 12:51:20 PM »

Hi All,
I've looked around & couldn't find a source to buy a ULX2 transmitter only.  Mine crapped out but the cartridge (Beta 87A) still works.  Does anyone know where I could get one?  TIA for your help
Thanks,

Looks like you have to get a transmitter with the capsule, since no one sells the transmitter alone. The only place where I'd find a transmitter alone would be fleabay.

What's worse is that Shure doesn't even offer the tx unit alone as an option. Looking at the price list (disclaimer: I am a Shure dealer),  you can order the ULX2 transmitter with your choice of capsules (SM58, SM87, B58, B87A, B87C, or SM86) but not the transmitter alone. Best bet would be to get the transmitter with the SM58 (retail for $253.00) and just swap the capsules out. Then you'll have the SM58 capsule as a backup, should it ever be needed.

Thanks guys.  I guess I'll end up with an extra 58 capsule  :)

How about sending it back to Shure for repair?  It's a $100 flat rate repair even if it's out of warranty.

Oh, I didn't know that.  I'll come clean with you guys: the only wrong with the transmitter is the the stupid on/off button not latching to the off posion, which is better than not being able to turn on I guess.  I've had to live with that annoyance for a long time.  I'll contact Shure & send it it in.

Oh gosh, yeah, if the problem is that simple, then definitely repair is the best and cheapest option!!
