Old is New..

Pioneer's www.gswave.com. Why?

Like hot-rodders endlessly building cast iron small block Chevy engines, there is a club fringe trying to recreate NYC's Paradise Garage nightclub of the 1970s. Pioneer has joined in.

Thankfully this is marketed as playback-only. The 2 x15 low box is alternately referred to in the literature as horn loaded or transmission line - well, which is it?

The 2 x slantplate lens look great. Sound?

That lens is supposed to say JBL, not Pioneer! Same for the Richard Long-style bullet tweet arrays.

I'm not one for the dance music scene, but some of the history is interesting, vis a vis people being creative with audio technology. There's a book called "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" by Bill Brewster that touches on the early club scene, and sort of paints it as the birth of High Fidelity outside the living room.  By 70's standards, that stuff is all very HiFi.

The Pioneer "Wav-Lens" look like a pair of JBL 2395's stacked on top of one another. Based on the Pioneer specs
there about the same size as well.
JBL even did a gold anodized version of a similar design horn the 2390 that used folded plates to reduce the over all size.

This wording may mean something......or not!
"Pioneer's exclusive horn design, which is attached to the lens to deliver wide and even coverage across a large frequency range"

The JBL 2395 lens was used with a 2343 elliptical mouth exponential horn.
I think the early Clair S4's used that same horn without the lens attached.

Yea old is new again, now if that same thing would just apply to some of the shirts hanging in my closet!

Can you turn it up? I can't hear the music over that shirt.

Quite right! And Clair abandoned the S4 how long ago?

This is a total "(sorta) fix it in the mix (dsp)" kind of thing. Think replicars..

The vast majority were emptied of components and the boxes crushed with a dozer a couple of years ago but I think they still have a couple hundred sitting around.
